Youth Involvement

“Children are our greatest treasure. They are our future.”

— Nelson Mandela

Would you like to help teach your children new skills? It’s free for children to participate in our handmade markets! They’ll learn how to handle money, talk to customers, and more. It’s an excellent learning opportunity to share with your child or classroom today!

Our handmade markets are family friendly events, and a great opportunity to educate your child.

How to get involved? Reach out! It is free for children to join in our markets.

What will we need? Children will need to decide what they are selling, maybe old toys, or if they’re creative something they make! They will need to set up a display booth, decide on how to price their products, use math skills when processing orders for change and more!

Parental supervision is required.

FAQs

How can I include my child in your next market?

Reach out to us through our contact form to apply! You will need to apply beforehand, so we can prepare enough areas for them. We will provide you with our child checklist sheet to help prepare for the market!

Will you be supervising my child?

Parents are required to supervise their own children during the market.

Are tables and chairs provided?

At this time we do not have tables or chairs to provide to anyone. You will need to bring your own set up to sell. This is a great opportunity to work and plan with your child on how they want their booth to look, and get creative!

What can my child sell?

Anything they want so long as it does not contain animal products. This can be something they made, toys they no longer want, clothes they don’t fit. But we ask out of respect for the animals we are fundraising for everything remains plant-based.

What skills will my child learn participating?

Children will learn about money management, and handling money. They will need to decide how much items they are selling are, give customers change, and be able to count their float to see how much they profited throughout the day.

Children will learn about communication skills. They’ll need to greet their customers, answer questions, and process their own sales.

Children will learn responsibility, managing their sections, arriving on time to set up, cleaning up after themselves and so on.

Children will get the chance to learn what an animal sanctuary is, and what we do to rescue animals if they choose to.

Children will have opportunities to make new friends.

These are just the basics, you can help teach your children so much more by being involved with their preparations!
