Our Story

“Being a hero to someone, even if it is a dog, is a feeling like no other. Though it can be frustrating, it can be the most rewarding thing to give someone a second chance at a happy life.”

Ledwich Family Farm provides a forever home to all types of animals. All animals are loved, and will be given proper care while they live their lives out on the farm.

Christopher and Torrence Ledwich have been together since April 2009, and have always loved animals. They rescued their first animal together, a Japanese Chin dog named Diesel, in summer of 2013. Since then they knew they had to continue their work with animals of all sorts.

While living in Winnipeg in a small 500 square foot home, they rescued another dog and two cats. As they were quickly outgrowing their home they found their perfect opportunity. 320 acres outside of Inwood. It was their dream to rescue farm animals after moving in, in fall of 2016.

Again opportunity came earlier than expected, and they began their rescue of farm animals. Introducing a horse, Gunner, pony, Buster, two goats, Bobby and Lukie, to the family on Mother’s Day of 2019.

Those that visit the farm are enamoured by the animals and loving family they meet. It is throw the work of friends and family that they continue to make the farm a more welcoming place to even more animals that need homes.

No matter what, we are here for all the second chances.

One shift in their story changed when they started a friendship with another family of vegans. That friendship blossomed and grew into something special. After some discussions, and planning the Reineke-Valenzuela family moved onto the property. The Ledwich Family Farm now houses two vegan families on the grounds.

The Reineke-Valenzuela family is here to help animals as well. They had dreams of starting their own pig sanctuary in the future, but love all the animals that call this farm home. With different outlooks and skills they can help the animals in ways that the Ledwich family cannot.
