When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.

In loving memory of all those we helped cross over the rainbow bridge.

Diesel

August 2009 to May 2022

Moved in August 2013. Diesel was our first rescue, and the start of our crazy adventure! Diesel was from a puppy mill, and bred with a larger breed dog. She had to have caesarean sections because of this, which are limited to three for dogs. She was born August 1st of 2010. Diesel has come a long way since we adopted her. You can often find her sun tanning, or roaming the property doing her own thing. She loves adventures, and being independent.

Harley

Moved in February 2014. Harley had lived her life in a puppy mill. When she came to us she didn’t understand how to walk up a step. Harley went on many adventures with us, and was dearly loved. She was always snuggled in bed with us, or cuddled on the couch. She loved adventures, and was known for getting lost on her own. We miss her dearly, but are so thankful we had a chance to share our lives together. Harley passed away of old age at 14.

Loki

Remembering Loki; August 2014 - December 2019. Loki was Torrence’s first cat, and a rescued barn cat. He lived with the Ledwich’s in Winnipeg and moved to the farm. Loki was known as the “grumpy cat” but his personality was far from it. He loved to snuggle up to anyone that would let him, and would cuddle any animal if there wasn’t a human available. Loki died very young and very unexpectedly. He is greatly missed.

Diesel

Moved in August 2019. There isn’t a huge history on Diesel. He is an older horse, that is very loving and gentle. Diesel has befriended our youngest horse, Blue. But Diesel also enjoys his alone time away from the herd.

Cocoabeans

Moved in February 2020. Cocobeans is part of a farm that went bankrupt and was sent to auction. He came to the farm with the other three alpacas. Cocobeans was extremely underweight when he came to the farm, but has gained a decent amount back but still has a way to go. He is curious about people, but still very shy.

Penelope

Moved in February 2020. Penelope is our female alpaca. She has a hard time trusting humans still. She is the least trusting of the group, but she really enjoys the company of toddlers. Be careful though, she’ll let you know if she doesn’t like what you’re up to with a mouthful of spittle.

Erin Carter

Moved in February 2020. Erin is another female from the alpaca herd. She is more trusting than Penelope, but very skittish. She will yell at you if you make her too uncomfortable.

Prince Flufflebutt aka Chip

Moved in February 2020. Chip is a boarder at the farm, but he loves to hang out with his best friend Cocobeans. Chip is the friendlist of alpacas that came to the farm. He loves grain and will happily eat it out of your hand!

Carl

Moved in September 2019. We were given a large flock of birds consisting of mixed breed chickens, guinea foul and ducks. Carl is our monster rooster, though very young in this picture his size is visible. He is the most comfortable around people, and just fun to be around.

Chickypoo

Chickypoo moved in with us in June 2020. She was a chick purchased on a whim at a farmers market, with no real plan for her home. It is amazing to see how much she has grown in a few months. She loves to hang out with the roosters, and wander the yard.

Sesame

Sesame moved in September 2019. He was one of four roosters that came to live with us. He loves to spend his days outside, and is one of our noisiest members.

Mini, Beatrice & Kevin

These three moved in also in September of 2019. They were from the same family that came to us as babies. Mini and Beatrice are some of our chickens, while Kevin is a rooster.

Darkwing Duck

This little guy had a lovely life at a rescue, but needed some duck companions. He lived with bunnies in a beautiful area, but now he enjoys his days with our other ducks! Although much smaller than a muscovy he fits right in with his feather friends. Moved in December 2020.

Pumpkin and Pie

These two female turkeys were surrendered to the sanctuary in October 2020 during Canadian Thanksgiving.

Rex

Rex is a lovely boy! He moved in because his owners wanted to find a good home for him after he became aggressive with the father of the family. He lived a very good life before coming here.

Karen

Karen was one of several hens found alive in a pile of dead sisters after an egg farmer culling. These hens made headlines from the atrocities they witnessed. She is the sweetest chicken and did not deserve the life she was dealt. She will live now without having to worry about her eggs ever being taken from her.

Leghorn Hens

These hens were part of a rescue done by The Good Place Sanctuary & Rescue. They were being culled by egg farmers, which is a practice to get rid of hens when they are no longer at their producing peak. Their names are Margaret Thatcher, Blue, Alacorn, Piggy, and Mylkshake.
